Distance covered walking for six minutes, optionally compared against a predicted distance for age, sex, height and weight.

Instructions

  • Use a flat, straight course of known length with cones marking the turnaround.
  • Instruct the patient to cover as much ground as possible in six minutes, resting if needed.
  • Do not walk with the patient; standardised encouragement only.
  • Record total distance, rest breaks, and whether the patient stopped before six minutes.
  • Demographics are optional and used only to calculate a predicted distance.
